Dr. G.K. Pillai has been writing on diverse topics like “modern spirituality” “Value Added Tax”, and “Public Finance”. His books on “Value Added Tax” presented workable models and solutions that facilitated the adoption of a new tax regime in India. The second book on ‘VAT’ carried a preface by the then Finance Minister of India who hailed it as a valuable addition to our tax literature..

“Mystic Awareness for the Modern Mind” published in 2001, was his first book on scientific spirituality. It has been acclaimed as a “pathfinder to an enriched existence”. His modern version of “Upanishads” is primarily addressed to the intelligent youth seeking a rational mode of spirituality that conforms to their advanced scientific knowledge of reality. In a recent book he explained the vision of a great sage, “Shri Ramana Maharshi”, that reveals a compassionate mindset consistent with the current scientific worldview.

Dr. Pillai has been conducting interactive sessions on ‘Spiritual Awareness’ and “Stress Management” to mitigate the mental strain associated with our mad rush for material pleasures. He has launched an NGO for “Children’s’ Cancer Care” in India to help the poor and needy to access modern and timely treatment. Sale proceeds of his books support the rehabilitation of AIDS and Cancer patients, and their families.

The Queen Of Genes
This novel describes the poignant struggle of two sisters to survive in a male dominated society. It redefines women from a scientific perspective, and explains how they evolve constantly to master new challenges. Men with their traditional and aggressive attitudes, fail to understand women, and treat them as ‘Maternity Machines’, meant only to serve and suffer. The book helps modern women to understand the riddle of their resilience that arises from selective inactivation of one ‘X’ chromosome.
The story gives rational explanations of unconventional behaviour patterns, changing lifestyles and career ambitions of women that upset the primitive mindset of mankind. Also, the book underlines a spiritual attitude to feminine life and establishes the fact that every woman is a mystic simply because of her inherited capacity to surrender self-interest for serving the cause of family and society. It exposes some modern vendors of Indian spirituality, and hails women’s inherent ability to extend self consciousness to promote unity and equality on a global basis. Of course they are exploited and constantly pushed into deep depression now, but in the long run, they will certainly take over the planet.
